2020 Dermatology Congress of South Africa

Welcome Message for 6th Combined Dermatology Congress 2020

The 6th Combined Dermatology Congress of South Africa 2020 will be taking a step into the future of dermatology: updated perspectives on disease pathogenesis and management and on procedural dermatology. There will be a focus on atopic dermatitis and pruritus in the DSSA parallel sessions. The SASDS will focus on new aspects of dermatological surgery as well as presenting practical interactive sessions in surgery, aesthetic injectables, lasers and vitiligo. Our invited international guest speakers come from around the world and bring their unique expertise to this exciting congress.

We are thrilled to welcome international guest speakers:

Prof Emma Guttman
Director of the Center for Excellence in Eczema, Icahn school of Medicine, Mount Sinai medical center, New York

Prof Alan Fleischer
Director of the Department of Dermatology, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Ohio

Dr Anna Bar
Associate Professor of Dermatology, School of Medicine, Oregon Health and Science University Associate professor of dermatology and co-director of Mohs micrographic surgery.

Professor Mauro Picardo
Director of the Integrated Center of Metabolomic Research (CIRM) at the San Gallicano Institute, Rome

The SASDS pre-congress workshop on Thursday 27 August is planned to be a Basic Life Support Course with certification. Ensuring the best safety and life support during procedures is essential for all dermatologists.

During the congress the SASDS also plans to incorporate futuristic master classes in procedural dermatology in surgery, vitiligo and injectables, enabling as much exposure and opportunity to learn as possible.

Greater knowledge will improve the quality of our Dermatology Practices and ultimately be of benefit to both doctor and patient. Let us grow wiser with each new opportunity to learn.

We look forward to welcoming you all to the 6th Combined Dermatology Congress 2020 at the CSIR in Pretoria on the 27 August 2020.

Professor Hendrick Motswaledi
Congress Chairperson

Dr Sian Hartshorne
President of the SASDS
